The Dogs
Laurie is the dam of our current litterLaurie was born at Husky Homestead, the kennel of 4-time Iditarod champion Jeff King. She came down from Denali Park 4 years ago. Her sire Yucksi was bred by the late Susan Butcher. Her dam Jenna was a Golden Harness winner on Jeff King's winning team, a prestigious award given to the most outstanding lead dog of the Iditarod. Friendly and outgoing, she is also the official greeter for our kennel at public tours and school demonstrations.
Yedi is the sire of this litterYeti is a young male AKC Alaskan Malamute who started running on our sled team at 6 months. Pictured here as a puppy. His dam, Ch Snowlion's Sky Dancer retired at age 10, was one of our main leaders. Both his parents are AKC champions. Yeti earned his Working Team Dog title from the AMCA, Alaskan Malamute Club of America this spring.
At two weeks his pups were good-sized with nice blocky heads. They also shows signs of being heavy-coated much like the old-style Alaskan village huskies. We plan on keeping one pup for our touring team and to eventually breed back into our distance racing Alaskan Husky team to improve the feet and coat; so at this time, one female and two males are available.

Damien is a well-built Alaskan from an ISDRA gold-medal-winning sprint kennel with excellent bloodlines going back to Boaz/Saunderson champion dogs. A soft-tempered male, Damien came to us as a yearling who'd never been in harness and has since raced two seasons at Snowlion Kennels. This guy gets along well with his team mates. Very quiet and focused.
Jett is one of our main leaders. A lovely girl with fluid gait and gazelle-like speed. She was bred from two Jeff King dogs who came down from the 4-time Iditarod champion's kennel in Denali Park, Alaska. She has raced with us for three seasons and she also fills out the team on our holiday sled tours around the Tahoe and Lassen area.
Jett will rejoin the team for the start of fall training near Lassen National Park in a couple of weeks.
Mason in lead (front right)Bred by Iditarod champion Mitch Seavey, Mason has an impressive pedigree which includes some of the top-producing dogs in the history of the breed. (see his pedigree in the sidebar). His parents, Harlem and Piper, were on Mitch's 2004 Iditarod champion team.
This past winter Mason completed numerous distance races in Alaska and has two Iditarod finishes to his credit.
