Mason's parents Piper and Harlem were on Mitch Seavey's 2004 Iditarod winning team. Mason has completed two Iditarods and several other long-distance races in Alaska. His pedigree is based on the well-known Saunderson racing lines which include top producers such as Sailor and Victor, two  champion stud dogs in history of the Alaskan Husky breed.  Mason's pedigree also includes Yukon Quest champion, Bill Cotter's dogs, known for their endurance, athleticism and soundness.
